Quick overview — 4 steps
1
Create your account and connector URL at adsmcp.net
2
In ChatGPT, open Plugins → Add → Add custom MCP server
3
Paste your connector URL, name it ADSMCP, leave Authentication on OAuth, click Create as a plugin
4
Click Connect ADSMCP, sign in with your email, then test with ping google ads mcp
ChatGPT's interface changes regularly. It recently dropped the separate "Developer Mode" toggle this guide used to require — custom MCP servers are now added directly from the Plugins page. Button labels and screens may still shift over time; the steps below stay the same in spirit: sign up → get your URL → add it as a custom MCP server in ChatGPT → connect → test.
Sign up and connect your Google account
Go to adsmcp.net/login.aspx and create your account. After logging in, go to MCP Settings and click Connect with Google. Sign in with the Google account that has access to your Google Ads.
On the Google consent screen select all permissions — Google Ads, Search Console, and GA4 are covered by the same login in one click.
After connecting, enter your Google Ads Account ID in MCP Settings (the 10-digit number in the top-right of Google Ads, format XXX-XXX-XXXX). Managing multiple clients via MCC? Enter your MCC ID and ChatGPT will list all client accounts.
Finally, click Generate URL in MCP Settings and copy your personal MCP URL — it will look like https://www.adsmcp.net/mcp.ashx.
Open Plugins in ChatGPT
In ChatGPT's sidebar, click Plugins. Click the Add button in the top-right corner and choose to add a custom MCP server.
Fill in the connector details
Name it ADSMCP. Under Connection, make sure Server URL is selected and paste your MCP URL from Step 1. Leave Authentication set to OAuth — it's auto-detected and already correct.
Check "I understand and want to continue" and click Create as a plugin.
ChatGPT shows a warning that custom MCP servers introduce risk. This is standard for any custom connector, not specific to ADS MCP — only connect to servers you trust.
Click Connect ADSMCP
ChatGPT shows a consent screen explaining what connecting shares. Click Connect ADSMCP to continue.
Sign in to ADS MCP
You'll be redirected to ADS MCP's sign-in page. Enter the same email you used to sign up in Step 1 and click Send me a code. Check your inbox, enter the code, and you'll be sent straight back to ChatGPT, fully connected.
Already have an ADS MCP account from connecting Claude? Use the same email — you'll sign straight into your existing account, no new one created.
Test the connection
Back in ChatGPT, open the ADSMCP plugin page and click Try in chat, or just start a new chat and type:
ping google ads mcp
You should get back pong with your account status and Google Ads connection confirmed. Then try your first real query:
list my Google Ads accounts and audit the campaigns for the last 30 days
ChatGPT will pull your account list, fetch campaign stats, and give you a structured report — including wasted spend, keyword gaps, and Abs.Top IS scores. Every write action (creating campaigns, adding keywords) still happens only after you ask for it in the conversation.
See the
Quick Guide for more example prompts — keyword gap analysis, Search Console queries, GA4 reports, campaign creation, and PMax setup.
